Among the first brands to ever release a prenatal gummy vitamin, Vitafusion has become a best-seller among expecting moms who expect great nutrition in a gummy format. If you’re someone who can’t stand the thought of taking another horse pill, but still doesn’t want to miss out on the important vitamins and minerals that a prenatal multi can provide, the Vitafusion PreNatals probably sound like a dream come true. With thousands of happy Amazon customers (and countless more offline), they must be doing something right. Let’s find out.

Overall, Vitafusion prenatal gummies are a high-quality product with good purity and quality control. It’s not perfect, however, and there are a couple of areas worth discussing. First of all, the use of gelatin in the ingredient list is a bit disappointing, and the source of the gelatin itself isn’t currently known. Secondly, when Labdoor studied the label accuracy of Vitafusion PreNatals, they found significant variances. In fact, they said the folic acid was off by over 300%, which is so bad as to not seem real. Though there are many happy customers that would attest to Vitafusion’s quality, the overall data sends a mixed message.

These gummy prenatal vitamins offer a solid nutritional profile for expecting mothers.

Vitamin A

The 4000 IU of Vitamin A in Vitafusion PreNatal is under the recommended maximum of 5000, which is good, though the choice of retinyl palmitate is slightly inferior to beta carotene (beta carotene is a safer choice from a Vitamin A toxicity standpoint).

Folic Acid

Double the recommended dose and in line with other prenatal vitamins, there are 800 mcg of folic acid per serving of Vitafusion PreNatal Gummy. Bear in mind, however, the label issues mentioned in the Quality section. What makes the issue so curious, actually, is that the gummies tested as having too much folic acid. Strictly speaking, that’s not a bad thing, but it does raise a little concern about what other contents could be off.

As with all gummy vitamins, there is no iron in these prenatals. Be sure to find a separate iron supplement (or eat foods that naturally contain iron).

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

There are 65 mg total omega-3 fatty acids (50 mg of which is DHA). Though there is no official recommendation, DHA can be beneficial for brain development, so it’s great that Vitafusion has included plenty of DHA in their prenatal vitamins. Thanks to the fruity flavor of these gummies, you won’t have to worry about any fishy taste either.

Gummy vitamins are great for convenience since they’re chewable and tend to taste pretty good. The fruit flavors of Vitafusion PreNatal Gummy Vitamins are universally liked and mask any unpleasantness typically experienced with prenatal vitamins. One interesting difference between these Vitafusion vitamins and the SmartyPants PreNatal Complete (another fantastic gummy prenatal) is the serving size. You’ll only need to take 2 gummies per day (as opposed to 6 for SmartyPants Complete). If you’re not a fan of having to take a bunch of gummies or if you’re the type that just wants to take them all at once, these Vitafusion prenatals might be more convenient overall.

If you compare against the full range of possibilities, you’ll find that Vitafusion PreNatals fall somewhere in the middle of the road price-wise. While certainly not as expensive as SmartyPants Complete, it’s not nearly as budget-priced as something you might find on a Walmart shelf. With that all in mind, being in the middle probably makes these gummies a very good value proposition overall, as you’re getting the extra attention to detail and a gummy format without breaking the bank.

Final Word

Well loved by thousands of mothers, Vitafusion PreNatal has earned a strong reputation. There are chinks in the armor, however, with questions regarding label accuracy. Nonetheless, these gummies are a great choice for any expecting mother, which is why it made our list of the best gummy prenatal vitamins.
